VI Peel

Advanced chemical peels are designed to eliminate the dull, damaged top layer of the skin while revealing the beautiful, healthy tissue below, all without the downside of harsh chemical peels that often require weeks of recovery time. The VI Peel is a medium-strength, medical-grade chemical peel that effectively minimizes signs of sun damage and aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture and tone. The VI Peel family of treatments can also be used to target acne by removing the top layer of skin, as well as the underlying dermal layers, allowing them to be replaced by smoother, brighter skin.

Made up of a proprietary blend of active ingredients, including salicylic acidtrichloroacetic acid (TCA), phenol, vitamin C, and retinoic acid, the VI Peels deliver dramatic results more quickly than chemical peels that include only one of these ingredients, with less downtime than deeper peels.

There are five types of VI peels, each suitable to a specific set of skin conditions.

  • VI Peel, the original formula, contains a signature combination of TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C. It also contains an anesthetic, to reduce discomfort.
  • VI Peel Precision has higher concentrations of the above active ingredients, making the formula 25% stronger and more effective at treating signs of aging.
  • VI Peel Precision Plus adds hydroquinone and kojic acid, ingredients known for lightening dark spots. It’s used to treat sunspots, age spots, and other hyperpigmentation issues like melasma.
  • VI Peel Purify is formulated for acne-prone skin. It has benzoyl peroxide and hydrocortisone, to target both acne and inflammation.
  • VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus combines the acne-fighting ingredients in the Purify formula with the brightening ingredients in the Precision Plus formula, offering a two-pronged approach to more severe acne scarring and skin damage.

What to Expect

  • During the consultation, the esthetician will answer any questions and take a complete medical history to assess treatment areas and individual goals in order to select and curate the chemical peel that is right for you.
  • Appointments generally last 30-60 minutes.
  • Minimal discomfort as the treatment formulation includes a mild anesthetic.
  • Peeling begins in the first 24-48 hours.
  • Expect 3-5 days of social downtime while skin is peeling.
  • Results appear when peeling stops, approximately 5-7 days after treatment.
  • A series of 3 treatments over 3 months is recommended to achieve maximum results.

Before Your Appointment

  • In the week prior to your appointment, stop using peels, exfoliants and topical creams that contain retinol or glycolic acid that can make skin more sensitive and potentially interfere with the procedure.
  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure 1 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid waxing, shaving or tweezing the treatment area one week prior to treatment.

After Your Appointment + Downtime

  • Let skin peel naturally. To minimize the chance of infection, avoid picking or peeling with your hands.

  • Expect 5-7 days of social downtime.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and wear sun protection daily.
