Microneedling
It’s one of the most in-demand anti-aging treatments available today. Microneedling, also known as collagen-induction therapy, is a process wherein a pen-like tool outfitted with micro-thin, sterilized needles is used to gently prick the skin causing slight injury and prompting the production of new collagen as well as allowing deep penetration of topically applied, ingredient-rich serums. The result is plumper, smoother skin, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and better absorption of skin care products.
As a stand-alone treatment, microneedling offers excellent results and is effective on all skin types. Combined with the addition of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) it is the rock star of anti-aging treatments. The PRP process begins with a nurse drawing a few ounces of the patient’s blood at the start of the appointment. The blood is then spun through a centrifuge in order to concentrate the platelets and isolate the PRP. Made up of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, the PRP applied during the microneedling treatment activates healing while enhancing collagen production, increasing cell turnover and providing longer-term anti-aging results.
Non-invasive and requiring virtually no downtime, microneedling is a top choice for patients who wish to avoid more invasive laser treatments including those with darker skin tones for whom laser may not be an option. Patients with skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, active acne or those undergoing radiation therapy should consult with their physician before treatment.

- Appointments generally last 1-2 hours with the first 30 minutes for the application and activation of numbing cream.

- Results can be seen in the first week and will continue for 1-3 months. The full effect of microneedling is realized over 3 sessions, one month apart, followed by 1-2 sessions annually for maintenance.
